Katie George began her volleyball career in Louisville, Kentucky, playing for Assumption High School under coach Ron Kordes and for the Kentucky Indiana Volleyball Academy (KIVA) under Cristy Chapman Uhrig. Her talent quickly stood out, earning her the title of Prep Volleyball’s National Player of the Year in 2012.
During her high school years, she collected numerous honors. In 2011, she was named KVCA Miss Kentucky Volleyball, selected to the KVCA First-Team All-State, and recognized as the KHSCA Outstanding Senior for Volleyball. She also earned the KHSAA State Tournament MVP award.
Katie played a key role in leading her school to back-to-back KHSAA State Championships in 2010 and 2011, earning a place on the State All-Tournament Team. She was also named KVCA Region 7 Player of the Year.
Her achievements drew national attention, including a feature in Sports Illustrated’s “Faces in the Crowd.” PrepVolleyball ranked her among the top players, and she appeared on the Under Armour All-American Watch List in 2011.
At the club level with KIVA, she continued to excel, earning All-Tournament Team honors at the Wisconsin Dells Showcase (2010) and JVDA (2009), where her team won the Open Gold Division Championship.
